California Water Voluntary Agreements

by on September 13, 2021

Guided by science, this new framework will serve as the basis for binding voluntary agreements between government authorities and water users, with the partnership and oversight of environmental groups. The Newsom Administration and lawmakers recently released $70 million for habitat restoration and other measures under voluntary agreements. This commitment reflects the support of the State government and parliament for this joint initiative. This path is a dead end. What we need is a generational shift toward water and environmental management in California. A new science-based approach, a specific water block for stream rivers, a funding plan, and habitat restoration projects that will revitalize the ecosystem in many parts of the state. That`s the new approach that Californians want, and that`s what we`ll get from voluntary agreements. Let us work together for a new era of cooperation and move together towards the future.
